This Low-cost U.S. Airline Is Giving New Passengers $100 for Taking Their First Flight

First-time customers on Avelo Airlines will receive a $100 credit towards their next flight after booking a round-trip.

Never flown on Avelo Airlines? Now might be the time to try out the startup airline, targeted just for first-timers on Avelo.

Until Jan. 8 at 11:59 p.m. PT, travelers can receive a $100 travel credit after booking a round-trip flight for travel until April 30, 2024. Enter promo code “TRYUS” before searching for a ticket directly on Avelo’s website.

“We’re excited about this promotion because we want to continue to show the value of Avelo,” a spokesperson from Avelo shared with Travel +Leisure. “We’re consistently touting our industry-leading reliability and convenience, and we want to share it with new Customers and our continued loyal Customers alike.”

There are only a few caveats to note with this limited-time promotion — which is one of the best offers we’ve seen from the airline. New travelers on Avelo are “defined as 18 years of age or older on the first day of travel, who has never flown on Avelo and is based on their first name, last name, date of birth, and gender,” according to the airline’s website.

In addition, a maximum of $100 travel credit will be awarded, even if you have multiple new Avelo flyers on the same reservation.

Within four weeks of the completed trip, flyers will receive $100 in Avelo travel funds that are valid for one year. The travel credit will be associated with the primary traveler who originally booked the ticket and can then be redeemed online at checkout.

Avelo has a fairly lax change and cancellation policy requiring only the fare difference, a major differentiator from competing low-cost airlines like Frontier or Spirit. However, if you choose to cancel your reservation through Avelo's customer service over the phone, there is a $20 fee per traveler.

The low-cost airline began flying in 2021 and has more than 30 destinations on its route map. With most of its hubs focused on smaller to mid-sized cities, the airline operates on a point-to-point model that connects travelers to leisure destinations across the nation. Recently, Avelo launched a new payment method with PayPal, allowing travelers to purchase a ticket over four interest interest-free payments.
